Miscreants snatch necklace

BHUBANESWAR: In yet another incident of snatching in the City, two bike-borne miscreants robbed a woman of her necklace in Jagannath Vihar area on Saturday evening. The woman, Sandhyarani Samantray, was walking home after accompanying her daughter to a tutorial class when the incident occurred.  She was intercepted by two-bike borne youths near an intersection. The pillion rider snatched her necklace and the duo tried to speed away but the woman managed to hold the former by his collar as a result of which he and the woman both fell down. The other miscreant came to his accomplice’s rescue but not before snatching the necklace a portion of which remained with the woman. The miscreants then fled. A complaint has been lodged with Khandagiri Police.TRADER ASSAULTS WIFE: A trader allegedly brutally assaulted his wife over a trivial issue on Saturday. Rita Pradhan, the victim, had a tiff with her husband Rabi Pradhan over visit to her paternal place. A furious Rabi reportedly used a sharp weapon to assault his wife who is now receiving treatment at Capital Hospital. The incident occurred in Pokhariput area.
