New Delhi: Luv Ranjan, who came into limelight with his 2011 sleeper hit 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama', said 'Akaash Vani' is for people who think that love stories don't have conflicts. 'Akaash Vani' has Kartik Tiwari and Nushrat in the lead roles. He explains the central theme of the film.
"I have realised it in last some years that we have stopped making pure romantic films, we have been concentrating too hard on romantic comedies. The major portion of the film is young romance, I just feel that youngsters have changed a lot and romance has become a part of their daily life. It was there earlier as well but now it's more prominent. 'Akaash Vani' deals with serious issues, people think that love stories don't have conflicts but the social set-up has changed a lot and thus new types of conflicts have been introduced. Further, there are issues which were existent even 30 years ago," says Luv Ranjan.
Ranjan further talks about what prompted him to make 'Akaash Vani', "Today, even if an 18 year old takes her boyfriend home to meet her parents, a very small section of the society would be comfortable with that. Parents we have in films these days appear very cool but it's really difficult to find such parents in real life."
The promos suggest that the film covers different phases of actors' lives. "No, I am not jumping periods in the film but the story span is of six years in continuation. You join college around the age of 17 and then you fall in love but you don't say the same things when you're 22, so my focus was to present a realistic story, this is how it happens in real life."
Ranjan also says, "Till now, I have tried to keep my premise very real because I find real life full of drama, emotions and humour. The funniest one liners I have heard were not in films. Honestly speaking, 'Akaash Vani' is not about the ideal set-up, it's about what happens when youngsters come out of their dream college world."
The director describes how the social set-up inspired him to make "Akaash Vani', "There are some issues which have come into existence in last some years and some are there from a long time. For example, girls going out at night was always a problem for many who didn't look at it as something positive, now girls are working and have become independent, but we haven't given them a favourable environment, now combine both these situations, 'Akaash Vani' is about all these new-old issues."
Is he going to show 'Akaash Vani' from a particular point of view like 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama'? "The film is from the viewpoints of Akaash and Vani. 'Pyaar ka Punchnama' wasn't about taking sides, it was a neutral story of three boys, something that happens in the society. Are all the girls or the boys are nice in this world? See, it's not a book to justify people, its one out of the hundred story, so I was not showing something rare. I believe people will relate more with 'Akaash Vani' than 'Pyaar ka Punchnama'."
