New Delhi: Get ready to see film posters while traveling on trains as Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has come up with a new idea to earn revenues by way of film promotions.
The Union Railway Minister plans to ask filmmakers to advertise their films on trains, just like the film ads are seen on buses and hoardings. These ads will help raise funds for the maintenance of trains.
“Local trains have always been used to promote films. It's another way to advertise your film. Every bit of attention helps. Trains travel through densely populated areas, stop at stations and lots of people get to see the ads. I will definitely utilize this form of advertising,” filmmaker Boney Kapoor was quoted as saying by a website.
National award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar too seemed to agree with the idea. “It’s a great idea. Almost 70 per cent of Indians travel by train, the publicity will be big. The railways will get huge revenue as well. I am ready to use this new way of promoting my films,” he said.
Lalu who is keen on making Indian railways a successful venture, has really come up with an out of the box idea this time. How much does it work for the revenues, is yet to be seen.
