THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom, hosted a seminar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for Inventions and Creations’ on Saturday to create awareness among students about intellectual property rights and allied matters. The seminar was organised jointly by Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom, and Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment. Dr Achuthsankar S Nair, honorary director, Centre for Bioinformatics and coordinator, IPR Cell, University of Kerala, inaugurated the programme and delivered the keynote address. He emphasised the need to be creative and updated in life.In the technical session that followed, V P Balagangadharan of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) spoke on the topic ‘IPR - Tool to protect inventions and creations’.There was a quiz on IPR and related topics. Anand Sreekumar of Loyola School, Sreekariyam came first, Aravind M R of Kendriya Vidyalaya came second followed by Anantha Padmanabhan G of the same school in the third position. C P Kumaran, principal, gave away the trophies.More than 80 students from different schools attended the programme.
