KUFOS to get UGC affiliation soon

KOCHI: Fisheries Minister K Babu said that  procedures to obtain the University Grants Commission (UGC) affiliation for the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) are under way. He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the academic complex which was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas at the KUFOS on Sunday.As part of its initial phase, the Finance and Law Departments have formulated guidelines for the service of the employees. The completed report will be submitted soon to the Governor.Also, a decision to shift 14 posts from the Agricultural University to the KUFOS has also been taken. Speaking on the issue of giving away the  land belonging to the KUFOS to the LNG terminal, the minister said that sufficient land will be provided to set up a department for Ocean Studies at the KUFOS in return. The proposal is under consideration of the Chief Minister.
