Bangalore: External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on Saturday said no Indian embassy employee in Kabul wanted to return home but the government would consider helping staffers who wanted to be transferred and be with their families.
Krishna, while speaking to reporters in Bangalore, recalled that during his visit to Kabul after two attacks on Indian embassy he asked employees if any of them wanted to come back because of security fear.
To his pleasant surprise, not a single employee offered to come back to India, he said, and quoted the staff as saying they would "live through it" which showed the "resolve and determination" of the IFS members serving overseas.
He said the degree of level of security to Indian embassy employees in Kabul was being enhanced in view of the last Friday attack on two hotels targeting Indians.
Krishna, however, added some might want to come back due to certain family compulsions. "Well, anyway, they are entitled to get transfer. So, depending upon each application, depending upon each request, I think, a valued decision will be taken".
Seven Indians, including three Army officers, were killed and nine others injured in the last week's attack on the hotels.
