Chennai: Did AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the opposition J Jayalalithaa score 200 out of 200 or 193 in Mathematics in her Matriculation examination?
The issue became a bone of contention in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Friday with Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi, while refuting a charge made by an AIADMK member, stating that he always had his statistics right and would not falsely claim that he had scored centum after having secured only 193.
The Minister was apparently taking a dig at Jayalalithaa, who during the discussions on the state budget on July 31, said she was not weak in Maths and in fact had secured centum in Matriculation exam.
Intervening, Information and Publicity Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi said the student who sat before Jayalalithaa in the exam hall only secured centum.
Earlier, VP Kalairajan (AIADMK) said Ponmudi, while giving reply to the discussions on the demand for grants for his department, had wrongly claimed that the Karunanidhi Government had opened several colleges in the State since 1967.
It was late DMK founder CN Annadurai, who was ruling the state then, he added.
