Los Angeles: Actor Tom Hanks' son Chet says he recently went to a rehabilitation to seek help for his cocaine addiction.
Chet, 24, has now been sober for 50 days after "struggling" since he was 16, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"I've been struggling with substance abuse since I was 16 years old. Finally at the age of 24, I decided to get some help. With 50 days of sobriety under my belt, I can honestly say I'm the happiest I've ever been," he said speaking in a video message on his Instagram page.
He went on to thank his family for their support and said he feels "blessed" to be able to overcome his problems.
"I'm thankful for my family and everybody that cares about me, including my fans. I've been blessed with the programs of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) which allow me to rise above this disease."
"I'm learning to accept my faults and be okay with being human. If anybody that sees this struggles with addiction, feel free to reach out. Thank you all for the love and support! God is real," he wrote in a caption accompanying the video.
Chet decided to go public about his addiction after a US magazine planned to expose his battle.
"I have an announcement: A tabloid is about to run a piece on me being in rehab for a cocaine addiction. It's true. I'm currently 50 days clean and sober from everything, including alcohol."
"I don't give a f**k what people think. F**k the media," he said.
