Indians rate terrorism as 'biggest worry'
Terrorism has become the biggest concern area for the average Indian today.

New Delhi: After repeated terror strikes in different corners of the country, terrorism has become the biggest concern area for the average Indian today. This was the finding of an on-line survey conducted by the ACNielsen recently.

The survey, which was conducted among Internet users in 46 countries from Europe, Asia Pacific, North America, the Baltics and the Middle East, found that more than people from any other country, Indians rate terrorism as one of the biggest concern areas in their day-to-day life.

According to the survey, increasing terror attacks in the country and abroad has become the area of major concern for most Indians in last few months. As many as 31 per cent of those who took part in the poll from India said they consider terrorism as an area of greatest concern for them, while elsewhere only 15 per cent people rated terrorism as a major issue.

Britain, which faced a major terror strike in July, 2005, makes it to the second position with 26 per cent British voters showing concern over terrorism. Denmark follows the list with 25 per cent people rating terrorism as a major issue of concern.

"Looking at the way terrorism is hitting across the country be it in Mumbai or up Northeast in Guwahati or for that matter Kashmir Valley, terrorism is surely a big concern that the country is facing," Sarang Panchal, Executive Director of ACNielsen, South Asia, said .

The report said though the country's intelligence and security forces were trying their best to check terrorism, people still feel some kind of security threat in public places.
