To freshen up the memories of the master film-maker A K Lohithadas and
offering him a bouquet of flowers with films from all over India, a national level
short film festival will be organised in the City.
The festival will be held at Maharajas
College Auditorium, Ernakulam Public Library and Maharajas College Main Hall on
October 26,27 and 28.
The Lohithadas National
Short Film festival (LNSFF) is organised by the Maharaja’s Youth Theatre and
the Old Students Association of Maharaja’s.
“One of the biggest short film
festivals ever to have happened in South India, the LNSFF will include short
films from renowned short film makers from all over India and film makers from
leading universities,” the organisers said.
There will be awards for best director,
best script, best cameraman, best actor and best actress.
There will be a separate section for
the campus film selection.
The last date for submitting the films
is September 15 and a poster designing competition will be held during the
festival.

The short film festival will start with
the screening of the film ‘Chaya’ at 8.30 am on October 26 at the Maharajas College Auditorium.
The competition section films will be
screened at Maharajas College Auditorium and Ernakulam Public Library.
Actor Mammootty will inaugurate the
festival. The movie ‘Bhoothakkanadi’ will be
screened by 7 pm as a homage to Lohithadas.
Minister for Cinema K B Ganeshkumar
will be the chief guest of the valedictory function.
Prominent personalities from the
political and cultural spheres including Mayor Tony Chammany, Hibi Eden MLA,
Benney Behnan MLA, former mayor Dinesh Mani, district Collector P I Sheik Pareeth,
former minister Binoy Viswam, script writer John Paul, national award winner
Umesh Kulkarni, Tamil script writer Jayamhoan and directors including Sibi Malayil,
Salim Ahamed, Ashiq Abu, Lal Jose, Anwar Rasheed, Sameer Thahir and actors
Meera Jasimne and Jyothirmayi will also attend the opening and valedictory
ceremonies.
