The Intelligence Bureau(IB) launched an investigation into the arrest and subsequent release of Malayali youths for taking photographs inside the Air India Dreamliner aircraft from Chennai on Wednesday. From the initial information collected by the IB, the two persons from Ernakulam have no terror links.
The sources in the IB said that they had received the order to investigate the background of Ameer Thwaha, 34, of Perumbavoor, and Mansoor, 19, Madavore, Ernakulam, from the Directorate in New Delhi on Thursday. “Based on the information collected, the youths do not have any association with the terror groups. We have been to their native places for collecting information. The security agencies alerted the possibility of information collection for a terror strike. But our investigation does not point to such a motive. Their family background is also clear and there is no cause for suspicion,” the IB official said.
The investigation report about the duo was sent to the Directorate on Friday.
