New Delhi: An IAS officer has committed suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of a building in Sector 12 of Dwarka, in South West Delhi on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.
Additional Director posted in Commerce Ministry Santosh Prasad (56) took the extreme step at noon on Wednesday.
Police did not find a suicide note on the scene of the incident. Prasad's body was later sent for a post-mortem.
Prasad lived on the second floor of Vimal apartments with his two sons and a daughter. His elder daughter works with an English daily while his younger
son is class 12th student.
Prasad came back to his residence from his office at 1100 hrs
on Wednesday. When he reached the apartment he asked his driver to park
his car and went up to the seventh floor instead of the second floor
where he used to live. On reaching there he jumped and took his life.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Prasad may have been suffering from depression.
