Srinagar: The flood situation in Jammu and Kashmir has intensified with heavy rains lashing the state. Following days of heavy rainfall, more than 100 people residing in villages of Ramgarh sector in Samba district of Jammu have been moved to safer places after the Bastar river breached the safety mark.
The precautionary measures were taken by the Civil Administration after the water in the river breached various embankments and entered the houses in villages of the district. People have taken shelter in a school in the district and are living without electricity and food.
Meanwhile, the monsoon fury raging across North India has thrown normal life out of gear. Heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh have triggered flood like situation in Faizabad district.
Flood waters have entered villages and have forced the villagers to move out of their homes. However, villagers complained that the government is not doing enough to rehabilitate them. Heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded in several parts of Uttar Pradesh in the last few days.
The MET department has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya.
