BANGALORE: The High Court on Thursday stayed the proceedings against KGF BJP MLA Y Sampangi for two weeks, who is facing charges of graft and was arrested by the Lokayukta.A single bench headed by Justice B V Pinto ordered the stay, following a petition by Sampangi, seeking to change the judge hearing his case, Lokayukta Judge K N Sudhindra Rao. Sampangi, in his petition has pointed out that bail cannot be cancelled even for a limited period. His counsel K Raghupathi submitted that there is no provision exists in law for such an action.Meanwhile, an affidavit has been filed before the court by two individuals - B M Ramachandra, a farmer and DSS worker; and A L Amarendra Mouni, a PWD contractor - who have stated that N K Badrinath, Rao’s brother, played a crucial role in cancellation of Sampangi’s bail. It may be recalled that Sampangi’s bail was cancelled on October 28, 2011.
