A handloom and handicrafts exhibition is being organised at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum, Secunderabad from March 6-10 Handlooms and Textiles Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao releasing the poster of the exhibition on March 4.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Governor of Telangana during the inaugural function of the new Visitor Facilitation Centre at Rashtrapati Nilayam, chaired virtually by President of India Droupadi Murmu.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said various historical attractions at the Rashtrapati Nilayam, including a 120-feet replica of a historic wooden flagpost, a Jai Hind stepwell, a maze garden, a children’s park, and Shiva and Nandi bull sculptures in the rock garden, will give visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural richness of the country.
The exhibition aims to showcase the rich tradition of handloom and handicrafts, highlighting the craftsmanship and skill of artisans from across the state. Visitors have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of handcrafted textiles, pottery, jewelry, and other traditional artifacts, all meticulously crafted by skilled artisans.
The exhibition will also host some special events to celebrate the spirit of womanhood in view of International Women’s Day on March 8.
- Heritage Walk: On March 8, in celebration of International Women’s Day, there will be a heritage walk featuring women adorned in exquisite sarees, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of India’s textile traditions.
- Fashion Show: As part of the exhibition, on March 8, there will be a fashion show featuring ladies dressed in traditional attire, showcasing the timeless elegance of Indian ethnic wear.
- Literary Fest: On March 10, there will be a Literary Fest exclusively curated by and for women authors, providing a platform for them to showcase their literary talents and celebrate their contributions to the world of literature.
Rashtrapati Nilayam, the official winter retreat of the President of India, has been a symbol of heritage and culture. It opened its doors to the public in 2023 all-year round on the auspicious occasion of Ugaadi. Since then, it has become a beacon of cultural activity and engagement.
