Works like Kalavu Pona En Kadavulum Kanamal Pona En Kadhaliyum will ensure that a pristine language like Tamil will be kept alive, said M A M Ramaswamy, who released the book recently. The book was authored by P Chandrasekharan, former director of the Tamil Nadu Forensic Science Department.
The first copy of the book was received by A R Lakshmanan, former Supreme Court judge.
Speaking at the event, Ramaswamy said he was honoured to be part of the book release function and felt that people should do more to encourage such initiatives which would keep Tamil alive.
“I deeply admire and appreciate the works of Chandrasekharan. Many thanks to such scholars for keeping the legacy of Tamil alive,” he added.
The book focuses on the tireless research put in by Chandrasekharan to devise fool-proof scientific methods to protect the idols of gods and goddesses in temples, temple jewellery and antique jewellery at museums, besides private collections.
Chandrasekharan told City Express that the craftsmanship of the artisan would definitely help identify temple jewellery when combined with scientific methods.
“Every temple jewellery will have the individual artisan’s signature and scientific index would help identify and preserve the signature, besides preventing theft and duplication.
Jyothi Mani, judge, Madras High Court, and Prakash M Swamy, president, New York Tamil Sangam were among others present on the occasion.
