Ahmedabad: Gujarat government on Saturday announced appointment of senior IAS officer GR Aloria as the new chief secretary of the state.
Aloria, a 1981 batch IAS officer, is at present Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development Department and also holds the additional charge of Home department. He will be chief secretary of the state, a notification issued by the state government stated.
He will replace incumbent Chief Secretary DJ Pandian who is retiring on May 31. There were speculations that Pandian will get an extension.
Aloria had served in Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited as a head and shown his efficiency in acquisition of land for canal network.
