New Delhi: Former Prime Minister and JD-S leader H D Deve Gowda is being put on the dock for his alleged BJP leanings.

The JD-S is to move a resolution to to remove Gowda from the primary membership of the party at national executive meet to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

The decision comes as a reaction to Gowda dissolving the Kerala unit of the JD-S. Party members accuse Gowda of deviating from the party's secular policy.

Gowda's decision could not be accepted as he had "ceased to be the JD(S) president by deviating from the party's professed policy of secularism," PTI quoted Veerendrakumar as saying.

"Gowda had ceased to be the president once he decided to form a government in Karnataka in coalition with the BJP. The party's stand had all along been clear that it would not be part of any alliance with BJP, negating its secular principles," Veerendrakumar told PTI.

The resolution will be moved by the leaders owing allegiance to JD-S leader M P Veerendrakumar. The meeting is also expected to suspend the Karnataka unit of the JD-S and appoint an ad hoc panel.

The executive's decision would then be approved by the National council, the supreme body of the party. A new president is likely to be elected at the national council to be held on December 23.
