GHMC to take up patchwork near manhole covers

HYDERABAD: GHMC commissioner Krishna Babu has instructed officers to take up immediate patchwork around manhole covers which are either lower or higher than road level.After a visit to the place where a person fell into a uncovered manhole and was killed at Mehdipatnam on Tuesday, the commissioner ordered for immediate patch works and said GHMC will take up cement patching for all BT roads in near future to prevent such mishaps.In the coordination meeting held with traffic police and Hyderabad Metro Rail officials, traffic police informed they had identified around 450 such manhole covers which are either lower or higher than the road level.The GHMC has identified 14 junctions like KCP Junction, Model House, Maithrivanam, Alugadda Bavi, Villa Marie, CM camp office, Kalanikethan, Yousufguda check post, Ranigunj, Karbala Maidan, Gangabowli and Lal Bungalow as stagnation points and works will be taken up to ensure free-flow of storm water.Krishna Babu also instructed officials to take up all road restoration works in coordination with allied departments.
