New Delhi: The Janata Dal (United) on Sunday dared the Left to 'bite' the government by withdrawing its support instead of sleeping over the government foreign policy.

Taking a swipe at the Left parties and the Samajwadi Party in the matter, George Fernandes said if their opposition was limited to just making public statements, when they are in a position to reverse the course, the people of India were bound to treat them as 'a hypocritical lot trying to run with the hare and hunt with the hound'.

"If they do not reconsider support to this government, it will be too late to reverse the anti-national course this government has chosen," he said.

"When they had ventured out to support this government, they knew which territory they might have to trade. Then they said they will act like barking dogs. Then when the situation ran out of their hands, they threatened to 'not only bark but bite also'. Now, it seems they have turned into sleeping dogs," Fernandes said.

Fernandes also attacked the Manmohan Singh government for becoming a 'direct party to the designs of the US' in voting against Iran on the nuclear issue.

"India's vote in IAEA is clearly against our own national interest and breaches the broad national consensus on foreign policy. India has for the first time become a direct party to

the designs of the US, to limit the sovereignty of other countries not convenient to it," Fernandes, also NDA Convenor, said.

"Iraq was sought to be repeated in Iran and India was this time party to it," he said, adding that JD(U) would launch a nationwide campaign to oppose the UPA Government's decision to vote for taking Iran's nuclear issue to the UN Security Council.
