New Delhi: Bad hair days can catch you unprepared, anytime, anywhere and walking into office wearing cool clothes and your hair sticking out on all ends can completely kill your look.
With crazy traffic, deadlines and that car pool to catch, spending hours on your hair is not a practical possibility. But just because you don’t have time does not mean it has to show on your hairstyle! With the many quick-fix products in the market, there are ways to spruce your look and turn that bad hair day into a wow-hair day.
Whatever your hair type and problem, there’s a solution in a bottle somewhere. Here goes:
Limp Locks: So you start out looking great in the morning, but by noon, your hair goes limp. Just grab a bottle, apply it to your hair and brush it the way you like: in five minutes flat, your hair looks neat throughout the day.
Try: Gels by L’oreal and Schwarzkopff.
Straight ‘n’ Simple: Poker-straight hair can look really bad if it has split ends or fly aways. Get yourself a product that ‘fixes’ your straight hair in its place, apply it to semi-wet hair and then sweep back your fair for all-day coiffured look.
Try: L’oreal’s Aqua Gloss, Fix Move gel, Brylcreem’s Wet Look gel, Jolen’s Wetlook gel, Parachute’s Aftershower Extrahold Gel and Straight serum.
Curly Capers: Curly hair is the toughest to keep when it comes to conditioning and keeping the hair looking soft and lustrous. To avoid looking as if you have a perpetual Afro, try products that soften your curls and give them a more structured look.
Try: L’oreal’s Curl Memory works really well, if your hair has been chemically straightened, curled or styled, try, Air-Fix, Full Volume and Hot Style sprays.
While the products, gels and mousses available in the market do make life and hairstyling a five-minute job, there are some things you need to keep in mind before going nozzle-happy.
- Since these gels and mousses are also chemical-based, it is advisable not to use them daily.
- Apart from using these gels do take time out to pamper your mane the natural way: a hot oil massage followed by a steamed towel treatment.
- Using natural conditioners like egg yolk and curd are also recommended.
- When colouring your hair, remember to stay away from ammonia-based colours and stick to colours that have extracts of herbs and fruits.
- Lastly, nothing works as well as drinking copious amounts of water: don’t forget that!
Did you know that the best conditioner for your hair is nowhere to be found in the market but in your refrigerator? Mayonnaise is the best hair softener. A word of caution, keep it on only for a few minutes.
