The suspect in the Bengaluru cafe blast case is visible throughout CCTV footage captured in Bengaluru and other areas. The individual has been careful about their identity despite taking an unusual approach, top sources said.
According to the top sources, the accused is visible throughout CCTV footage in Bengaluru. After they put the bag inside Rameshwaram Cafe, they stepped out and possibly changed their clothes to avoid being identified.
The suspect has been careful, which suggests that they did a reconnaissance of the route multiple times before the incident. Agencies said they are visible in CCTV grabs up to Ballari but cannot be found after that.
They said the fact that he changed at a place of worship is clear indication that the suspect is aware of it and had a premeditated spot to carry out this task. Leaving the cap behind, they added, is either deliberate or a mistake and is under investigation.
Agencies further said the suspect removed the cap and put on a new one as is visible in the CCTV footage. The place of worship is related to the Tablighi Jamat, they added.
The cap was earlier recovered from outside the place of worship while there are more CCTV grabs that show how the suspect is travelling on a bus, where his face is completely visible.
Agencies are exploring all angles, including ISIS, business rivalry and Muslim anger towards the BJP government at the Centre.
The bomb blast at the Rameshwaram Cafe in the Whitefield area of Bengaluru left nine people injured. On Wednesday (March 6), the NIA announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information on the suspect and also posted his CCTV grab.
