CHENNAI: Another writ petition challenging the anointment of controversial godman Nithyananda as the 293rd junior pontiff of Madurai Adheenam was filed in the Madras High Court.A vacation bench comprising Justices V Dhanapalan and B Rajendran, before which the public interest writ petition from R Krishnamurthy of Manali came up for hearing today, ordered notice to the HR&CE department returnable by June 6. The matter will be taken up along with similar petitions on that day.In his petition, Krishnamurthy, also an advocate, submitted that Nithyananda was unfit and incompetent to be the pontiff of the Adheenam. He was a controversial person and there were several allegations pertaining to sexual offences and the cases were pending before various courts. His mode of delivering sermons and the style of blessing devotees were all totally against Hindu mythology and Tamil culture, the petition alleged. Petitioner said that he met the Joint Commissioner of the HR&CE and submitted a representation .
