CHENNAI: Asha Manoharan became the first Indian to be awarded the Queen Effat Citizenship Award (QECA) by Princess Loulwah Al-Faisal and University President Dr Haifa Jamal Al-Lail at a ceremony recently. Asha, a student and  native of Trivandrum, is the daughter of Dr Manoharan Valsalam, a general and laparoscopic surgeon, working in Jeddha. She was nominated for the Dean’s List for academic excellence twice and was the second runner-up last year.Effat University awards the QECA annually to a student in recognition of their outstanding academic and personal merit.
