Tehran: Britain, France and Germany are considering a new incentive to persuade Iran to give up its uranium enrichment programme.
European officials are reportedly considering to offer Tehran a nuclear reactor, to pursue civilian nuclear energy without enriching uranium on Iranian soil.
But Iran does not seem to be too pleased and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad scorned their incentives.
Ahmedinijad said, "They (the European Union) say we want to give Iranians incentives but they think they are dealing with a four-year-old, telling him they will give him candies or walnuts and take gold from him in return".
Iran is still refusing to back down on what it says is a peaceful civilian nuclear program. But more concerning fact is that, Tehran has been consistently warning that if the US attacks, Iran will respond in kind.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki said, "The situation is changing in the Middle East and the American regime is insisting on their previous unilateral approach".
It is, of course, unlikely that the US or the European union will accept Iran enriching uranium. So the issue, for now, rests in the lap of the UN Security Council, where a consensus is yet to emerge.
