BANGALORE: The Legislative Secretariat introduced environment friendly battery powered vehicles to ferry members from their homes to the premises of Vidhana Soudha which houses the Upper House.
Announcing the deployment of the battery powered vehicle, Chairman of Legislative Council D H Shankaramurthy appealed to the legislators to utilise the vehicles and contribute their bit to the fight against global warming.He said that the vehicles would be made available for the benefit of the members one hour before the commencement of sessions; MLAs will be driven from the hostel to the Vidhana Soudha. The secretariat purchased six batterypowered vehicles.

The house also witnessed a new tradition on Thursday when Vande Matharam rented the air as soon it assembled.The atmosphere in the Upper House was a contrast to that in the Lower House on the opening day as members from both the sides exchanged pleasantries.
