Former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda has expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power as his successor Jagadish Shettar is capable of continuing the good work of the BJP government.
“I hope our party will come back to power again,” said Gowda here on Saturday.
According to him, the BJP government in the last four years had given the best of development schemes and performances. “Under the leadership of Yeddyurappa many things were achieved but all our dissidence, quarrel and differences of opinions had overtaken the development given works. This should be set right in the next eight months. In the collective leadership that I belief, all BJP leaders with Shettar as Chief Minister should seek votes in upcoming Assembly elections,” said Gowda.
On some dissidents trying to disrupt passing of Finance Bill in Assembly, Gowda said that no MLA from BJP,JD(S)or Congress should not disrupt the passing of Finance Bill as people vote for welfare and development.
“I have not asked for the state BJP president post at all. When the BJP faced crisis four years ago, the high command had made me the president and I with others’ support brought the BJP to power. Now I am an MLC and work for the welfare of party and state,” the former chief minister said.
The state government has taken a decision to conduct pooja to appease the rain god to seek rain for the state, he added.
According to Gowda, he had to resign owing to various political reasons, which he did not wish to discuss.
“I am contented that I worked to best of my ability as chief minister. The people too appreciated my performance,” he said.
He added that he had never indulged in groupism and casteism and had never instigated his community to stop him from resigning. “When I resigned and came home there were 65 MLAs and MLCs present. It was enough to know I had got love and affection,” Gowda said.
He added that he had never identified with the JD(S) or other parties. “When Yeddyurappa made me the chief minister I had become the representative of six crore people of the state. It was my responsibility to fulfil their wishes and I am satisfied having reached out to people,” Gowda said.
