Jaipur: The second Palace on Wheels train service, to be launched soon in Rajasthan, will offer more luxuries and facilities such as a dance floor, a massage centre, a conference hall and bars.
Likely to be launched early next year by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corp (RTDC) in collaboration with Indian Railways, it will be the third tourist train after Palace on Wheels and the recently introduced Heritage on Wheels.
The second edition of Palace on Wheels, estimated to cost about Rs 300 million, will possibly be the most expensive tourist train in Rajasthan.
"We are planning to offer tourists more luxuries in the new train. We are considering a dance floor, a massage centre and conference halls. These plans are in the preliminary stage," RTDC managing director Rakesh Saini said.
RTDC officials said the 21-coach train would have special suites, foreign exchange counters, exclusive kitchens, mini bars, gymnasium and steam bath facilities.
It would also provide conference facility to tourists in a salon that can be used by up to 30 people at a time.
"It would be a special train equipped with all state-of-the-art facilities that a tourist can think of. It would be a glitzier product with exclusive facilities," Saini said.
It would have three exclusive suites with windows designed in form of a viewing gallery. The trains will also have fire alarms, close circuit television and channel music.
The officials said the designing work related to the interiors and facilities would be completed within a month and the designs would be sent to the railway coach factory in Chennai where the coaches would be built.
