New Delhi: Politician DP Yadav’s sons Vikas and Vishal Yadav—key accused in Nitish Katara murder case—have been asked by a Delhi High Court to withdraw a legal notice filed by them to Public Prosecutor B S Joon.

Vikas and Vishal Yadav had slapped a legal defamation notice amounting to Rs 20 crore on the Public Prosecutor alleging that he had defamed them by giving harsh statement against them in the media.

"Giving out a notice of this nature would definitely create mental pressure on the special public prosecutor and you should withdraw the notice," said Justice A K Sikri and asked Yadav's Counsel to seek instructions from his clients.

Vikas and Vishal had served the defamation notice amounting to Rs 20 crore last month, on Public Prosecutor B S Joon referring to an incident that took place on July 25 when the Special Public Prosecutor expressed doubts over the authenticity of Bharti Yadav's signature on the fax papers sent from London.

The court has fixed December 18 as the next date of hearing. The Court was hearing a petition filed by victim's mother Neelam Katara seeking direction for withdrawal of the notice. Neelam Katara had said that by serving this type of notice on the Special Public Prosecutor, accused were creating mental pressure on him.

On February 17, 2002 Nitish Katara, a son of an IAS officer and MBA student was allegedly killed by Yadav as they were against his intimacy with their sister Bharti.
