HYDERABAD: The police have been given a free hand in controlling Telangana trouble. Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the police to ensure law and order in Hyderabad and elsewhere in the wake of T agitation getting intensified by the day.At a review meeting with chief secretary SV Prasad, director-general of police V Dinesh Reddy and Cyberabad police commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao here on Wednesday, the chief minister said the police should focus on people’s safety and protection of their properties.The chief minister wanted the officials to bear in mind that the image of Hyderabad should not take a beating because of lack of effective policing. Lakhs of people from across the world are living in Hyderabad and it is the centre of prestigious institutions. The city is also known for its IT industry as hundreds of software companies and MNCs are having their centres here. Hyderabad is also a pharma capital. Therefore, the police should ensure that law and order does not break down, he said.The chief minister asked the DGP to increase the deployment of forces at vulnerable places, offices, shopping and industrial areas, coal mines and power plants. Modern gadgets like CCTV cameras can be used to detect the movement of mischievous elements and stringent action should be taken against them, he said.
