New Delhi: A full integration of the three services as part of net-centric warfare is key to successful future operations, Army chief J J Singh said on Tuesday but cautioned against blindly imitating the West over the use of the emerging mechanism.
"We should not blindly ape Western thought process because our realities are different. Second, network centric warfare should not be seen as the aim but only as an enabling mechanism," he told a seminar jointly organised by the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), Naval Maritime Foundation (NMF), and the Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS).
Singh, however, praised all the three Services for increasing their communications capabilities over the past few years.
"I wish to compliment the three institutions for their far-sightedness and completely selfless approach towards enhancing strategic thinking in the Services. We will be looking forward to more such joint ventures in future," he said at the seminar on 'Net-Centric Warfare in the Regional Context'.
