The DMK working committee meeting on Monday resolved to send party treasurer M K Stalin and Parliamentary party leader T R Baalu to present the resolutions of the recent TESO conference to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the United Nations Human Rights Council. It also urged the Centre to help get these resolutions adopted through appropriate resolutions in the Security Council.
The working committee also passed a resolution urging the Centre again to file a review petition in the 2G spectrum scam case, as it felt the Supreme Court’s clarification to the Presidential Reference left issues unresolved. The DMK also urged the Centre to ensure that the Karnataka government released the stipulated amount of water to Tamil Nadu.
Human chain
Strongly criticising the State government for what it claimed were the filing of false cases against its leaders, the DMK working committee decided to hold human chain protest on October 5. The human chain, of DMK cadre wearing black clothes would run from the Collectorate to the Light House, party leader M Karunanidhi informed.
Picking bones with the government on a host of issues ranging from power crisis, the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant row and ‘police brutality’ among others, the DMK working committee resolution said the government had used force where it should have held peaceful talks.
