New Delhi: Fire fighters in the national capital attended over 50 calls tonight about fire-related incidents from across the city as Delhiites celebrated Diwali bursting crackers. The fire brigade got calls from almost all parts of the city but almost all of them were minor incidents.
In the 20 hours from last midnight, fire fighters received around 70-75 calls reporting fire-related incidents. However, the maximum calls came between 6 pm and 8 pm.
Fire brigade officials said they received 50-55 calls around during this two-hour span. Last Diwali, fire brigade received 210 calls. The fire brigade had deployed fire tenders in markets which do not have fire stations nearby.
"Ninety-nine per cent of our personnel were on duty on Diwali day," said the official.
