Delhi Woman's Body Found Stuffed in Almirah Days After She Told Father 'Abusive' Live-in Partner Could 'Kill' Her

In a shocking incident from Delhi, the body of a 26-year-old woman was found stuffed in an almirah at a house in the Dwarka area, police said on Thursday. The victim’s father has suspicions that her live-in partner murdered his daughter.

The incident came to light when the victim’s father approached the police on Wednesday after not being able to contact her for a few days.

Police said a PCR call was received at 10:40 pm on Wednesday with a caller saying his daughter could have been killed, following which a team from Dabri police station rushed to the said house in Dwarka’s Rajapuri area.

“Upon entering the flat, the body of the woman was found in the almirah of a room. The crime scene was inspected by the crime team and FSL,” a senior police officer was quoted by PTI as saying.

According to police, the woman’s father who was present at the spot when the body was discovered, alleged the woman was killed by her live-in partner Vipal Tailor. The body has been transferred to DDU Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Citing his last call with the woman, the complainant told the police that she had told him that her partner Vipal used to beat her up and she was afraid she could be murdered.

The victim had been living in the rented flat with Tailor for the past one and a half months, her father told the police.

“Efforts are underway to locate the accused, Vipal Tailor, who is a native of Surat in Gujarat. Based on the statement of the complainant, a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused,” the officer said, adding that police teams are also scanning CCTV cameras in the area to find out the crime sequence.

This is not the first incident wherein a woman was murdered by her live-in partner. In May 2022, 27-year-old Sharddha Walker was killed by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala in Delhi. He killed Shraddha over an argument and proceeded to chop the body into 35 pieces.

In another incident last year, a man named Sahil Gehlot strangled his live-in partner Nikki Yadav to death over an argument and hid her body in the refrigerator of a ‘dhaba’.
