New Delhi: It has been three days since the daring daylight robbery in national capital's Lajpat Nagar area took place, but the Delhi Police has yet not succeeded in cracking the case. However, the police said that they have conducted raids at various locations in Haryana and even claimed that they have accomplished certain leads. Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said, "Our teams are working on the case and we hope to crack it soon."
The police are looking into two PCR calls made on the day of the robbery (January 28) at 9:30 am and 9:50 am. The first call was made to inform only about the theft of the car, the robbery was reported 20 minutes later.
The driver of the Honda City car is a suspect, but he has been admitted to AIIMS after he complained of chest pain.
The case is also turning murkier by the second. According to the police, the victim in the case was also named in the 2000 Hansie Cronje match-fixing scandal.
The police suspect that Rajesh Kalra, who lost over Rs 7 crore in the heist, may also have indulged in hawala transactions and they are probing why he was carrying such a large amount of money.
Kalra had told police that he was on his way to deposit the money in a bank when his car, a Honda City, was looted of the money.
Meanwhile, Kalra continues to live in his house and the police is yet to give him a clean chit. But before the police investigates where the money came from, the challenge for them is to find out where the money has gone.
