New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested one more accused, identified as Joginder alias Johnny, in connection with the daring daylight robbery in which around Rs 8 crore had been looted from acar in Lajpat Nagar area on January 28.

Police claim to have recovered Rs 25 lakh from Joginder. So far four persons have been arrested in the robbery case. The police claim to have cracked the case with the arrest of three persons including a robber and recovered Rs 2.36 crore. Earlier, Ajay, the mastermind of robbery had surrendered on Monday.

In a major heist in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar area, nearly Rs 8 crore were robbed from a Honda City car on January 28 morning. The incident happened around 9.30 am. According to the police, the robbers came in a WagonR.

The gang had waylaid the cash van, pinned down a security guard and shot him after he tried to snatch their weapons.

They fled the spot in the cash van leaving behind the car in which they were following the vehicle.

They abandoned the car in Hauz Rani and later empty cash boxes were found in Khirki village where police deployed personnel in plain clothes on surveillance.

The complainant has told the police that his car was looted when the money was being taken to be deposited at a bank. The police are not ruling out the hawala angle.
