New Delhi: The Czech Republic on Monday backed India's claim for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.
"We are basically in favour of changes in the structure of the security council. I think it is quite compatible with the dreams and aspirations of India," said Vaclav Klaus, President of the Czech republic after a ceremonial welcome in New Delhi.
The Czech President, who is in India for six-day visit, hopes to consolidate bilateral ties between both nations during his visit.
Later, Klaus met the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and held wide-ranging discussions on a range of bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Klaus is also slated to meet Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and the leader of Opposition Lal Krishna Advani during his four-day stay in the capital.
He will also visit other cities including Kolkata, Bangalore, Aurangabad and Panaji.
