KOZHIKODE: The CPM would strive for evolving an Indian economic model of the Left alternative in the country in the backdrop of the neo-liberal policies and the upcoming party congress would deliberate on the issue, CPM politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai said here on Sunday.The Chinese, Vietnam, Russian and South American models of the Socialist Left alternative would be adopted in the Indian model, he said. He was delivering the inaugural address of the seminar ‘Neoliberalism: Past 20 years’ organised as part of the upcoming CPM party congress.As a result of the adoption of neoliberal policies, the corruption level in the country has gone to astronomical proportions. After Rs 1 lakh crore 2G scam and Rs 2 lakh crore S Band irregularities, a scam of Rs 10 lakh crore has been revealed in the coal sector in the country, he added.The neoliberal economic policies pursued by the Union Government have attracted the corporates to the natural resources of the country such as coal, petroleum and natural gas.The Congress, BJP and their allies have the same financial policies and foreign policies, which are pro-American and imperialist. The formation of the Left alternative would be drafted in the political policy to be discussed in the upcoming Party Congress, added SRP.CPM district secretary T P Ramakrishnan, former Kerala University Vice-chancellor Dr B Iqbal and Elamaram Kareem MLA were also present on the occasion.
