Srinagar: A local court on Saturday said it will direct the Kashmir Bar Association to provide a panel of lawyers for defending the accused in the sex racket case, which has rocked Jammu and Kashmir since in April this year.
"I will direct the bar association to provide a panel of lawyers for defending the accused in the case," Chief Judicial Magistrate M Y Akhoon said while hearing the bail applications of three accused, including former minister GA Mir.
The Bar association, which filed a Public Interest Litigation in the state High Court in the sex racket case, has passed a resolution barring its members from representing the accused.
The judge posted the bail applications of Mir, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Shabir Ahmad Langoo for July 4.
More than a dozen persons, including two sitting MLAs, former Additional Advocate General, a DIG of BSF and two DSPs have been arrested in connection with the racket so far.
