A special Lokayukta court here on Friday awarded three years' rigorous imprisonment to a deputy collector for possessing assets disproportionate to the known sources of income.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on deputy collector Vikram Singh Gehlot.
The sentence was today announced by Special Judge D Mishra.
Lokayukta police had carried out searches at Gehlot's house in Indore on March 30, 2004 when he was posted as tehsildar at Gandhwani in Dhar district.
His total income while in service should not have exceeded Rs 22 lakh, but he was found to be owning assets worth Rs 40 lakh.
He was promoted as Deputy Collector while the probe was on. He was suspended after the charge sheet was filed.
