BANGALORE: Crimson is hosting an exhibition by renowned artist S G Vasudev, from February 8 to 29. The exhibition will showcase his tapestries, paintings and drawings. Born in Mysore in 1941. Having graduated from the Government School of Arts, Madras in 1968, he is the recipient of several awards. He was awarded the National Award from the All India Lalit Kala Academy in 1967 whilst still a student. Vasudev was one of the founder members of the Cholamandal Artists Village, Madras.He has participated in several group shows and International exhibitions such as the Triennale India, Paris Biennale 1986, Cuba Biennale 1986, National gallery of Modern Art show at Washington, the festival of India in Tokyo and the New South Contemporary Painting and Sculpture from South India. He has had several solo shows in India and his international solo shows were held in USA, Germany, UK and Canada. He has also been the art director for two award-winning Kannada films. Vasudev’s strength is in his line. Though it is ornamental, it fleshes out his figures and makes them one with their environment. He has traveled extensively and is known for his drawings and murals also. Vasudev lives in Bangalore and works out of Bangalore and Chennai.
