November 14 to 20 is considered as Child Rights Week nation-wide and Rajagiri outREACH Society, a project run by Jeevana Samridhi Trust, Kerala which has been involved in the welfare of children, came forward with several programmes this year.    'outREACH' extended their programmes to four districts of the State, including Wayanad, Malappuram, Ernakulam and Thrissur, that saw a  total of 200 children participating in it.  In Kochi, the programme was held in coordination with the Panchayats, corporation and the social work departments of the city. Awareness classes were held in Kunnathunadu Taluk, Mattancherry,  Kadavanthra, Karumanoor, Kakkanad among others. A quiz and painting competition on adolescent health was held. Debate on child rights and responsibilities' and awareness classes on Juvenile Justice Act were some of the various programmes organised.K K Shaju, the project manager of outREACH says, “Physical abuse towards children has been increasing gradually every day. From what we read and hear in newspapers, they are not even safe in their homes. We intend to create an awareness among the children about their rights, make them open up to their parents and make them emotionally stronger. ”
