New Delhi: After the tug-of-war over NEET results, the CBSE is yet for another headache.
Ever since the Board declared the results for Class 12 exams, students have reportedly been complaining of abysmally low marks in certain subjects, which were then rectified by an even more incredible margin.
With the education body scrapping re-evaluation of answer sheets, the totalling system is under scrutiny now.
In a report, The Times of India quoted the cases of two students, Sonali and Samiksha.
The former had scored 99 in Economics, 95 in Accountancy and 96 in Business Studies but she scored a mere 68 in Mathematics in Class 12 exam. Sonali, too, had only scored 42 in Maths, after scoring well in English, Business Studies and Fine Arts.
Both students applied for re-totalling of marks and the results were truly surprising. Samiksha’s 42 more than doubled to 90, a 114.2% increase in her marks. Sonali’s marks, too, went up from 68 to 95, bringing relief to the student.
The results were declared on May 28 with the overall pass percentage seeing a dip to 82% from 83% last year. Raksha Gopal, a student of Amity International School in Noida, topped the exams with 99.6%, while Bhumi Sawant De from DAV Public School in Chandigarh stood second with 99.4% and Aditya Jain from Bhawan Vidyalaya Chandigarh tied third with Mannat Luthra at 99.2%.
