The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday asked can’t the chief secretary read simple English orders passed by it and take action on them.
Justice Ram Mohan Reddy made this comment while hearing a contempt petition filed by one C Suma alleging violation of building bylaws in Yalahanka area.
The petitioner had also alleged inaction on the part of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike in preventing unauthorised structures and construction of buildings in violation of bylaws.
On September 27, Justice Reddy had directed Chief Secretary S V Ranganath to submit an action taken report on Wednesday. As the chief secretary failed to submit the report, Justice Reddy asked: “Why can’t the chief secretary implement HC orders? Can’t he understand simple English? He seems to be taking everything in an easy and relaxed manner.”
Justice Reddy adjourned the case till Thursday.
