New Delhi: You can now buy the Amazon Kindle eReader in India while paying in Indian rupees. Though it is possible for people in India to buy the Kindle from the Amazon webstore, but the payment has to be made in US dollars and payment options are limited.
Shopping website Indiaplaza.in has added the Kindle to its online shelves and is selling three variants of the eReader with prices starting from Rs 8950. On Indiaplaza consumers can also pay through other modes - including netbanking, cheque, DD, money order and mobile phone - which are not available on Amazon.
The prices, though, are similar. While an $189 3G+WiFi Kindle will eventually cost Indian consumers $268.98, approximately Rs 11,950 (including import fees and shipping charges) and the equivalent model on Indiaplaza.in costs Rs 11,850.
