Bomb scare on Turkish plane forces it to land in Delhi, no explosive found
Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju confirmed that the plane has been cleared to resume its flight to Istanbul.

New Delhi: A Turkish Airlines plane with 148 people onboard made an emergency landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in the national capital on Tuesday following a bomb threat. But it was later cleared for take-off after the security agencies did not find any explosive.

Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju confirmed that the plane has been cleared to resume its flight to Istanbul. The plane was flying from Bangkok to Istanbul.

He said that no explosive was found during "routine check" as per the "protocol".

The plane landed in Delhi after its pilot was informed about a message scribbled on the mirror of a washroom with a lipstick warning about the presence of a bomb in the cargo hold.

The aircraft touched down in Delhi at 1:34 PM and was taken to an isolated area of the airport after which all the passengers and the crew were off-loaded as was their luggage, which were subjected to security checks, Civil Aviation Secretary RN Choubey said.

The aircraft was checked for explosives by CISF and Bomb Disposal Squads. Commandos of the elite National Security Guard with their dog squads were kept on stand by.

Delhi Police will register and FIR in connection with the incident, sources said.
