New Delhi: There’s no end to the ongoing violence in Assam it seems. In fact with each passing day, the situation seems to be getting grimmer with the banned United Liberation Front of Assam stepping up its attacks.
A time bomb, suspected to have been planted by the ULFA, exploded near an aluminum factory in Upper Assam's Tinsukia district on Wednesday morning.
The bomb went off at 0745 hrs IST near an aluminum manufacturing plant at Pakorijan, about three kms from Tinsukia town police station.
According to the police, there was no casualty or injury.
Only a portion of the factory's wall was damaged under the impact of the blast of the time device.
Police are combing the area and have cordoned it off.
In yet another incident of violence in the state, security forces shot dead two businessmen they mistook for militants as they tried to enter an oil installation on Wednesday.
The two traders on a bicycle were shot dead when they attempted to enter the prohibited site in Geleki in Sivsagar district.
