BANGALORE: For the second time, the Lokayukta Special Court, on Monday extended the deadline and directed the Lokayukta sleuths to file a final investigation report on January 10, 2012, in the Upper Bhadra Irrigation Project scam, in which former chief minister Yeddyurappa and his family members are accused. As per the directions of the court, the police were told to file the report on November 26. However, the police had then sought more time and Judge N K Sudheendra Rao had extended the deadline till December 19. On Monday, police submitted a status report to the court detailing the progress made in the investigation and asked the Judge for another four weeks of time to file the report. However, the Judge agreed to give only three weeks time and asked the police to submit a final report on January 10 and posted the hearing to the same date.It may be recalled that Y S V Datta, a JD(S) MLC had alleged that Yeddyurappa and his family members had received kickbacks to the tune of `13 crore from Murudeshwar Company to give a contract of the project.
