Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Friday announced the creation of an 'Employment Bank', its flagship programme, to provide a common platform among job-seekers, employers and placement agencies.
"I am happy to announce the launch of two flagship programmes of the state government for providing facilities to job-seekers and workers of the unorganized sector. The first flagship programme relates to the creation of an Employment Bank," state finance minister Amit Mitra told the state assembly while presenting his budget proposal for 2012-13.
"This bank will be an effective platform among three parties, namely the job-seekers, the employers and placement agencies, and the education and training providers through a web portal," he said.
The minister said the portal would enable online registration of job-seekers and job-givers, and would have provisions for searching the job seekers' database by the employers.
"The employers, once registered with the bank, will be able to post their demands in the portal," he informed.
The government would also issue a 'Samajik Mukti' (Social Freedom) Card to unorganised workers in different sectors, facilitating easy access to the different social security benefits available to the workers.
