Beef rumours trigger violence in Haryana, probe ordered
A police officer said six policeman and four villagers were injured in the clash and local people beat up the co-driver even as driver managed to flee.

GUrgaon: At least 10 people, including policemen, were injured as clashes erupted between people and police in Haryana's Palwal district on Thursday after villagers has stopped a truck allegedly carrying cow's meat.

"It was a clash between pro-cow volunteers and police. It was not any communal clash," said RS Sangwan, deputy director of public relations (National Capital Region), Haryana.

However, Palwal's Superintendent of Police Rajesh Duggal was unavailable for comments.

A police officer said six policeman and four villagers were injured in the clash and local people beat up the co-driver even as driver managed to flee.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said in Mewat district, about 90 km from Gurgaon, that a probe was launched into the incident.
